What’s the best book you have ever read? What did you like about it?

The best book I've ever read was probably Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephan Chbosky. But I feel like I've written too much about that book since I've read it, so I would rather write about true story I've recently read titled, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. Into the Wild is basically about a senior in college named Christopher McCandless who decides his life at home isn't for him. He abandons everything to his name, and leaves his small town in Virginia, without telling anyone where he’s going.

Christopher heads into the wilderness by himself, to live alone. He travels for about two years around America, through Atlanta, Virginia, New York City, South Dakota and many more places. After the two years of traveling, he teaches himself more about the basics of survival and decides to head to Alaska. He pushes himself through weather and other living extremes until his death, at age 24.

I think the reason I enjoyed this book so much was because when I was young I wanted to do what Christopher McCandless did. I was almost 100% sure I was going to finish my senior year in high school and just get rid of all possessions and travel the country. I was pretty convinced I was going to do this up until about 8th grade. That was when I realized that four years away was right around the corner. I also realized that of course, I needed to attend college. Nonetheless, I suppose that’s why I enjoyed the book so much, because I could relate to it.

The fact that it was a true story also made it very interesting. You would always think about how scary some of the situations he was put in would be to handle on your own. Christopher McCandless was also one of those people who didn't need to be caught up in the daily hustle and bustle of today. He didn't need money, a car, a television or anything. He just wanted to pursue his dream and travel. It seems that people like that are very hard to find now a days.
